			Discovered by [[w:Galileo Galilei\|Galileo Galilei]] in 1610 and first landed on by Isaac Turner in 2110, the moon was initially colonised by [[w:United States of America\|American mining industries]], who then incentivised migration from specifically [[w:Latin America\|Latin America]] and [[w:East Africa\|East Africa]], especially the [[w:Swahili coast\|Swahili coast]]. By 2190 these migrants had creolised into a distinct Ganymedian culture and formed the overwhelming majority of the Ganymedian population, despite still being under American colonial rule. This led to fears among the ruling American minority of rebellion, leading to harsher suppression of Ganymedians and the solidifying of a racial police state under the rule of successive American governors (Charlie Hayes, Owen Hought and Charlie Tae). This culminated in a protracted guerilla war that primarily affected American-majority colonies and ultimately drove away many American settlers by 2210, an event known as the Great Exodus; political revolutionary and [[w:Father of the nation\|father of the nation]] Kamari Karaskio assumed the role of governor and declared the First Ganymede Republic independent on February 2nd, 2222, after another guerilla war between political enemies.
