Etymology

From Middle Eburonian greipen, greipn, griepen, griepn, from Old Eburonian gripan, from Proto-West Germanic *grīpan. Cognate with German greifen, Dutch grijpen, English gripe.

grejpen (strong, third-person singular present grejpth, past tense griep, past participle gegriepen, auxiliary haven)

  1. (transitive) to grab; to grasp; to grip
