Talnanian entries
Hi! I've noticed you've started Talnanian both to Linguifex and Contionary; nice work with the modules! Not many newcomers dare to use them right away. However, I added Talnanian to Module:languages with the code taln (three-letter codes are reserved for natlangs), so you can use standard templates rather than trying to replicate the output. These templates are, namely, {{head}} for headword lines, {{der}} for etymologies, and {{ux}} and {{uxi}} for usage examples.
I also created a transliteration module: Module:taln-translit so they're added automatically to entries. Again, nice work, keep it up! If you need any help, feel free to get in touch via the talk pages here or in the Discord server. Have a nice day, cheers, sware • 🗣 • 🏲 14:24, 21 June 2026 (UTC)
- Hi @Sware, thanks for adding Talnanian to that module and making it easier to use templates. Such is much appreciated, for no longer do I have to type a string of brackets, hashtags, and colons to get an inheritance chain!
- Though, I noticed that pages now render the Bichig script vertically. However, Talnanian Bichig runs left-to-right. Is it possible for me to get it back to rendering left-to-right? Could I copy-paste the transliteration portion in Module:taln-conj onto Module:taln-translit?
- Also, concerning moving the modules to use the code "taln"; should I likewise migrate the templates like
{{tln-conj}}or{{tln-verb}}to{{taln-conj}}and{{taln-verb}}? - On the note of
{{tln-verb}}and{{tln-noun}}, which are functioning as the headword lines for verbs and nouns: should I replace with{{head}}, or no, given parameters like pres1, past1, and part? I noticed that you left that part untouched on the entries. - Thanks, Nehster9 (talk) 16:32, 21 June 2026 (UTC)
- No problem, and welcome! The vertical thing was a consequence of setting the script to Mongolic; I've now added an exception for Talnanian so it renders horizontally left-to-right. For Module:taln-conj you can use the
:transliteratefunction in Module:languages, though your version saves a significant amount of module calls. I was reluctant to move the templates as maybe you preferred those names, but ideally they should have the language prefix, similar to modules. - I modified Module:taln-headword, so now you can specify more than one plural or verb form per infinitive, for example, for a colloquial form. If there's only one form, both
|pres=and|pres1=mean the same thing, but further forms must be|pres2=,|pres3=, etc. These support inline modifiers, for every form, so you could change the automatic translation individually, or add qualifiers, etc. - sware • 🗣 • 🏲 19:45, 21 June 2026 (UTC)
