Judeo-Gaelic music

Tuning

Judeo-Gaelic music uses 22-note JI scales, or if necessary, 22-tone equal temperament. The idea of using a 22-note tuning system in accordance with the 22 Hebrew letters is relatively old in the Jewish commmunity. Music theorist and mathematician Șimăn Așăr Oh Moilăgon (שמעון אשר אָה מוילאגּאָן) invented various 22-note (unequal) JI scales in the 13th century. In comparison, the equal-tempered 22-note scale is a relatively modern invention and tends to be used only on fixed-pitch instruments.

Rhythm

Differs from our Ashkenazi music in several ways:

  • Scotch snaps, used everywhere from serious liturgical music to folk music
  • 5/4 and 7/4 meters also common

AETHERian music

People explore various unconventional tunings, JI, equal temperament and others, though 31-tone equal temperament and JI are the most common tunings. Some may augment their sense of hearing to be able to hear smaller intervals.
