Etymology

From Old Tefrian cd (/cit/), from Proto-Tephricheic *σīθ, borrowed from Akkadian 𒑆 (tišīt) (compare the other Semitic cognates to the Akkadian numeral such as Arabic تسعة (tisʕa), Aramaic תשעא (tišʿa), and Hebrew תשע (tésha')). Cognate with West Achissari چھیتھ (cʰitʰ) and East Achissari چھیس (cʰis).
