A fable about devotion
Recorded by Emil Diether
Gegləĝês turned toward the cries of her dying soldiers, but because it was nonstrategic, she didn’t help them.
One could call this cruel, but wouldn’t they die anyways?
Dvrowœć stole something from her, and gave it to her downtrodden.
One could call this kind, but would she not have been punished?
Švužf was supposed to kill her, but let her free instead.
One could call this merciful, but Gegləĝês called it weak.
Consequences often end up being different than perceptions, o dear one, for the world is not run on ideals alone.
Make no mistake; it’s good to do good things, but to act without a plan is arrogant.
In the end, there’s often a difference between sacrifice and devotion for a greater good.
When The Owl comes for you, o dear one, may you go by her talons and not thy foe’s.
